I have heard people on TB mention these (original motown recording with bass soloed), and I have heard the "Bernadette" version from the "Standing In the Shadows of Motown" CD, but are there any others? Where can I find them?

Search YouTube for "James jamerson isolated". Lots of good stuff there.

Like you just said, they're on the Standing In The Shadows Of Motown cd. A very worthwhile purchase.

yes, but there seem to be some on youtube that are not on the CD, which makes me wonder if there are even more... Any idea where I can get Mp3s of this stuff? (preferably highest quality possible) I know I can record the audio off of youtube, but that's pretty crappy quality compared to CD. Thanks for the input so far.

Try this:

Rick Suchow - NYC Bassist & Writer / rare Jaco Pastorius & James Jamerson tracks - Bass

This doesn't have isolated bass, but I'd encourage folks to listen to the Motown Box, a remaster of the stereo versions of many Motown hits.

The bass REALLY pops out in these mixes. The Four Tops tracks were revelatory for me.

Even more interesting, many of the tracks are "extended versions," featuring extra verses or ad-libs that were cut or faded out in the more familiar versions.
