How many DVD's are currently out there featuring known bassists?
We all know of the usual Marcus Miller, Victor, etc, etc DVD's. But what else is out there?
This can be instructional or concert. Perferably DVD's with the bassplayer being the main attraction. I'm looking tio expand my DVD collection
I currently have:
Jaco's Modern Electric Bass
Marcus Live
A couple of Sting's
Larry Graham's
Victor's Bass Day 98
Rush in Rio
Prince: Live at the Aladdin
Prince: 1999-2000 New Years Concert
Peter Gabriel (with Tony Levin) SEcret World
Peter Gabriel Live Somewhere else
Jimi Hendrix: Electric Ladyland
Stevie Ray Vaughn Live (somewhere)
What am I missing?

| | | | A couple others you may enjoy-
Allman Brothers-Live At The Beacon(the one with Oteil in the band)
Gov't Mule-The Deepest End(cd/DVD combo...many bassists are featured)
Mike Gordon's Rising Low...again, many bassists are featured. Standing In The Shadows of Motown-Bob Babbitt + some of The Funk Brothers playing live. Baby Snakes-Frank Zappa...some in-concert footage of Pat O'Hearn, Terry Bozzio, Adrian Belew, etc.
Prince-Live At The Alladin, Las Vegas...very entertaining show; killer band behind him.
Steely Dan-Two Against Nature...see above.
Steely Dan-Aja. Behind the scenes' peek; Chuck Rainey gets some screen time.
Screaming Headless Torsos-Live in NYC & Paris. TWO DVDs. Killer stuff.
I also have a couple of "Drum" DVDs; Modern Drummer festivals and a Drum Collective thing...both have their share of bassists playing along.
I have heard the Tower Of Power DVD is happenin'. I have been holding back 'cause the guy who recommended it is the same guy who went nutz over an Earth, Wind, & Fire Live In Concert DVD. I bought into that...IMO, it looks like EW&F is playing to a track. Pretty weak.

I bought the one from Ohne Filter, and have already sold it as used on Ebay - and I'm a die hard ToP fan since the 1970s!
The performance is great, it's just that the sound mixing and EQ is crappy to mediocre, from the bassist's point of view. The mixing and EQ on the brass section and vocals is decent, however, the bass is not as upfront or clear in the mix as it should be - enough so that I didn't need to maintain this DVD in my library, the sound is just not there IMHO. it's no justice to Rocco's presence and his playing. |

If we're talking about a concert video with bassist featured, then it's great to see Jaco in his prime with Weather Report on "Young and Fine Live!"
