This is the first track played during a radio set that Squarepusher did for a British radio show called Breezeblock, in 1999 I believe. I've been trying to figure out who did it, with no luck. As far as I know, it is not a Squarepusher tune - I believe this set was all other people's records, and then he did a separate set of his own work. Here's an excerpt:

Any ideas? It's got an awesome chord progression, and the production is cool, too (who uses that much spring reverb anymore?)

The Breezeblock set was actually done on 3-16-2004, and you're right, there were two sets( one other DJ's, one Squarepusher).

As for the track...

It's Spektrum's 'Breaker.'

Cheers!

Hmm, I don't know. I found this track that says it is Breaker by Spektrum.

It's obviously not the same track. There were 2 Squarepusher Breezeblock sets, one in 2004 and one in 1999 which is mislabeled as being from 1996. The latter is the one that this tune comes from. Do you know the track, or did you just find a setlist?

Oh, damn! Two Breezeblock sets? Both of 'em with some of Tom's faves and then a Squarepusher block? I didn't even think of that... I've seen the Breezeblock '96 tag on soulseek a few times, just figured it wasn't real, as Breezeblock didn't exist in '96... So yeah, I just went back and actually listened to your link, and no, that's clearly not Spektrum. My mistake.

However, the problem with this whole thing is that the breezeblock site only lists setlists back 2002, (and doing a quick check, it seems like Swampy's site with the sets before that aren't going to help) so, as far as I can tell, there's no way to be sure of what it is.

Wow, an earlier Squarepusher Breezeblock set. That's pretty awesome... You've got me enlisted, let's figure out what track this is!

Bump. I tried to message Mary-Ann Hobbs who I think hosted the Breezeblock or is somehow related (I'm in America, so I don't know anything about UK radio). Haven't heard back. Anyone have any ideas?
