For me it was the early 1990's (I Think I was 14), and I heard Black Sabbath "War Pigs" for the first time...... Geezer is the man, when it comes to "old school metal" bass playing as far as I am concerned.

I have three.

1. Black Sabbath - Hand of Doom
2. Metallica - Anesthesia
2. Cannibal Corpse - Hammer Smashed Face

Three totally different playing styles from three different generations of metal. At this point in my life I was already pretty much a dyed in the wool metalhead and these three examples laid the primary foundation for the style I eventually developed for myself.

Probably Lunchbox off of The Last Tour on Earth album. The interlude on that song was the first time I really noticed the bass.

Culture Club's "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" - the breakdown section with the reggae-ish bass line. I remember asking my mother what instrument played that part and she told me she thought it was the bass.
