Need feedback on mix of a metal song "Yours and Mine"

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I'm getting to the point where I'm second-guessing myself on my mix and I'm looking for a bit of feedback. The whole thing is recorded and mixed on my Korg D3200 DAW with no outboard effects; all compression and whatnot is from the D3200. I can give a microphone list if needed. I'm not in a position to buy any more new gear to make this sound better. As far as quality, we're going for a demo we can give out at shows as free cds.

Please let me know what you think: From Dogs to Wolves - Yours and Mine (Kris Mix 11)

Other songs available at ReverbNation: link. (Those mixes were not done by me. I will remix them myself at some point.)

Maybe you could post up what you're questioning.

I'm listening on some M-Audio speakers (monitors, no sub). IMVVVHO, for what you're trying to do with it, it certainly seems fine to me. After the singing starts, I'm good with it. If I were to stretch to try to find something to say, the guitar that comes in right after the opening chord seems a little low. During the opening, the snare and high toms seem a tad hot. Again, my opinion is the humblest...I could even be wrong on some objective basis and it's just the way it's striking me.

Good luck with it.

I think I just don't know when to say "this is done". I guess it's part of the problem of having a home studio (I use that term loosely) and no deadline. I'm new to mixing so I'm not quite sure where the finish line is.

Thanks for the feedback! I should probably leave it alone now and move on, which is a relief.
