need feedback, one man hardcore project

Sign in to disble this ad
i recently moved to a new town and i have a hard time to find people to jam with so i started this one man hardcore project.
i'm kinda new to recording so i need a little feedback(the recording/mixing aswell as the actual tune) on this song i'm working on.

i record with reaper, the drums are programmed with ez drummer, i use guitar rig 4 for guitar and bass, the vocals i haven't recorded yet since i don't have a microphone.
in the recording i use my ibanez rg and squire vm p-bass.

here's part two of the song i'm working on:

i haven't tinkerd with guitar rig 4 that much because i think the various presets sounds fine, some riffs in the song sounds kind of muddy though especially riffs involving chords.

soundin pretty good man. i like the softer breakdown spaces where you open it up a little, breaks up the monotony of hardcore parts. also good mix of fast and slow backbeats on drums. start stoppish kinda like system of a down. probably closer to hardcore bands though but i don't really know any. but i might start! only other feedback is maybe use a little more humor in your approach. Like it's cool all the dissonant and varied ideas, by maybe try throwing some even really crazier silly stuff in there. It's ok to make the listener laugh a little bit. Absurdity can be most hard core.

drums, especially cymbals are mixed a little high. that crash cymbal in particular. maybe try panning it in closer and pulling it down a couple dB.

the drum samples seem a little rock and roll. the kick in particular could benefit from a little scoop and high end boost between 6k and 10k.

i know as a bassist this hurts, but the bass is a little heavy in the mix. its loud and clear. maybe a little TOO loud and clear for the genre. but thats up for you to decide. either way, in the lowest mids its a little loud on my monitors. might just be me.

otherwise, i like where this is going. the structure is a little crazy, and i dig that.
