Cool New Age/Meditation Solo Bass Album

Sign in to disble this ad
I have recorded my entire album, ''Melody of the Rain'' myself, and its now officially for sale at my ReverbNation profile. This is a 10-song New Age Ambient album made from solo bass guitar (piccolo bass). Every instrument except for the simulated flute on the first song ''Slumbering Moon'' is my bass in various forms. Id love to hear some criticism, both good or ill, as to help me grow as a musician.

This is my first full length release, and Im actually pretty proud of it. I worked extensively on my bass tone to have both high and low end (in some parts) and give a really full, unique sound. My equipment is as follows:

- ESP B-55 5-string
- D'Addario Electric Bass XL Nickel Wound Piccolo Strings, .020 - .052
(note to add: I only have 4 piccolo strings on the 5-string bass, the low B string is gone. I removed it because It gets in my way, I only want 4 strings, and I much favor the closeness of the strings on this bass as opposed to a regular 4 string.)
- Recording Input: Line 6 Toneport GX (USB)
- Software: Mixcraft 4.1

The link to my album, where you can hear every song, is on my Reverbnation profile. I'll post that, as well as my myspace. Here is a video of my title track, ''Melody of the Rain'', follow the youtube link here:

Thanks in advance for any and all helpful tips or criticism!

I had a listen and whilst it wasn't really my kinda thing it is pretty good. I think some of the sounds of rain and water are a little too cliched to me, but I can't really say I've heard anything really like this, most of what I've heard has been in new age stores full of a suspiciously strong incense smell, but most of what I've heard has been just solo acoustic guitar stuff.
I'm sure you might be able to get a couple of your local new age stores to sell the cd for you though.
