Thank you sir!
I ran my '71 P bass direct and we used some outboard gear, plus a few amp modelers to cop my 78 SVT tone. We did the whole record with Logic.

Drums sounded low and outside the mix on my Altec computer speakers. Plugged into my studio mons and it got a little better, but it's a driving beat most times. Move them up. My opinion only; I don't know jack!

Good songs though. Warm & shimmering pop. Dig!

First off:

I LOVE the album artwork. Seriously.

I really dig this kind of music, it reminds me of a more instrumentally impressive "The Strokes", if that makes sense. The lead guitarist's tone is absolutely perfect, but at points I felt the synth/bass levels were inconsistent. There were points where I wish the bass line was more prominent and others where I feel the synth got in the way. Very interesting and busy songs, don't get me wrong, just my two cents!

Your tone was great throughout, like msb mentioned very old school punk sounding.

Let the Maryland/DC bassists club know next time you're performing nearby and I'll definitely check you guys out live

Thank you for the kind words. I'm pretty happy with the overall mix and after that I stay out of it.

We tried to push the drums a bit more on a few of the songs when they are a real highlight. I understand what you're saying, but all in all, I think we made a pretty solid group decision on the overall mix.

I'll let you know when we play local. Please do the same!

Cheers!

Thank you sir! We're very proud of the artwork .

I think you hit it head on with The Strokes reference.

As for the bass/synth levels. There really isn't that much synth/piano related parts on the record. Definitely more on the opening track, "Daytripping" and there's definitely a ton of marimba, but no bass synth.

Thank you for the compliments on the tone. I'm a tone whore .

I'll let you know when we're playing local for sure!

I don't listen to The Cure all that often, but I'm a fan.

Thanks for the thoughts!

At times a little guitar heavy and bass/drums shy (hey, I'm a bass player, what do you expect!). Vocals a little too wet for my taste... hehe, no pun intended. Firing on all cylinders musicianship-wise. Great hooky, catchy tunes.

Follow up: I will admit I wrote the above at a little more than the half way point. The mix keeps improving as the disc progresses. I've had this happen before either as a newbie learning the ins and outs of mixing, or later on just finding your way with a project. The vocal stylings and melodies really grew on me towards the end, although I'd still prefer them dryer. Good stuff, I'll come back to it again.

All your sounds mesh well together. All the parts compliment one another well.
It's got a nostalgic feel to it; which is something you want when trying to bring people into your fold.
It does feel like it gets repetitive through the course of listening to the entire album.
Your singer has a great dreamy sound; however i think his sound lends towards the repetitiveness. The similar tempos, and same unchanging bass/drum work throughout the faster songs also lend towards similarity to the point of mimicry.
Although, the entire album is short enough for these issues to not really be a big deal. The track order also helps alleviate some of the feeling of hearing the same song over and over.

Overall, everything sounds good and is an enjoyable listen. I'm glad I took the time to listen to it, and I'd pay to see a show.
