I heard that Anthony will be appearing on a new Steve Khan CD, along with Dennis Chambers, Manolo Badrena (percussion & vocals), plus Marc Quiñones(timbal) and Bobby Allende(congas). Apparently the goal is to combine the Eyewitness concept of making music with authentic Latin rhythms.
Anthony did some really terrific recodings with Steve Khan, going back as far as the early eighties (with drummers like Steve Jordan, Dave Weckl, and Dennis Chambers). So it's great to hear that he will be appearing with this ensemble.
Apparently the sessions were within the last few weeks, so we still have a ways to go before the CDs are released. Maybe late spring or summer, hopefully not later. I'll be waiting!

I'm going to do my best to be there. The later set shows are usually only $20.00! That's nothing for nearly getting a front row seat at a show of this calibre.

| | | | I just returned a few mins. ago from the Stern show at Catalina's. Anthony Jackson was not in the band, it was Tom Kennedy. I know someone who saw them in Oakland last weekend and Anthony was in the band for those gigs. But he said Anthony didn't look like he was feeling very well. Anyone have any idea what happened? There was no mention from Stern during the show about Anthony. |

| | | | I spoke with AJ a few weeks ago and he told me of this recording. He is very excited about how it turned out. He said he thought it may be out in February. |

He looked great. I was hoping he would keep it off. He's getting to the age that the weight is really going to be a problem.

"COMING IN 2011!!! "PARTING SHOT" is Steve's brand new recording, and it features Eyewitness veterans: Anthony Jackson, Dennis Chambers, and Manolo Badrena, alongside the tremendous Latin percussion team of Marc Quiñones and Bobby Allende. Together they perform 7 new compositions from Steve, and his interpretations of "Bye-ya" by Thelonious Monk, and both "Chronology" and "Blues Connotation" by Ornette Coleman. Recorded by James Farber at Avatar Studios on November 6th-7th, 2010, and mixing was just completed this past December 21st.
This spectacular recording features performances by guest artists: Rob Mounsey(keyboard & orchestrations), and, Steve was honored to have both Andrés Beeuwsaert(Aca Seca Trio) and Brasilian vocalist, Tatiana Parra singing the vocalese section on Steve's tune, "Influence Peddler." Perhaps, though it might be too bold to say, this is one of the first Latin Jazz recordings led by a guitarist in decades.
If everything goes as is hoped, the simultaneous releases would take place between March-May, 2011, and would again be handled by Tone Center Records(USA); 55 Records(Japan); and ESC Records(Germany/Europe). The cover art features another one of Steve's favorite artists, the great Frenchman Michel Granger. It has been a longtime dream for Steve to be able to feature a cover by Granger."

This keeps looking better and better. And, with harrybosch reporting that Anthony was excited about it you just know it's gonna be great! There are a few drummers that Anthony really shines with: Gadd, Weckl, Chambers and Colaiuta. I bet he and Dennis KILL IT on this recording. (Not to mention the rest of the percussion team.)

| | | | Just a shame that there won't be a tour...or at least that si what it seems to look like.
Would be cool if steve jordan was on drums like on the old eyewitness stuff.
Not moaning about the present lineup either however. :-)
