Its pretty funky. The kind of music I would love to listen to at a bar. The jam was tight.

The song Barney reminds me of Blue Oyster Cult, keep up the good work.

Well I was not really expecting you guy to like it. Well thats a good thing that you do. Any advise for anything on a change or intro anything anyone can think of. I was kinda looking for some criticizum but guess not.

So ya the direction where trying to go down is the brewa barney, jam funk groove with vocals direction. Thats as heavy as it gets for us when we play.

The tracks are about a month or two old so ill get some better ones on there, and a few new ones.

Damn man this is ill, the drums need work but like you said you dont have any drum mics so nothing you can really do about that. I really dig this, it was a nice sigh of relief when checking out some random band to not hear some of the same ****** generic metal riffs that seems to make up 70% of the bands out there!

Listened to Random Jam, and you guys seem pretty solid. The lead could do some leading, but pretty good.

Yeah, I play a little bass too. I could tell what you were doing there. You were playing some major and minor scales. I was watching your hands.

You are right, the mix is not very good, otherwise very listenable music. Good Job overall.

Smile Hoping to be Helpful

OK,all this is just my honest opinion.I've been in many 'just starting' bands,so I know where you're comming from.I wouldn't presume to tell you guys what or how to play, but with a decade+ gigging exp. I can tell you what I've found to work.
RANDOM JAM has some good licks, and a solid vibe, but an instrumental jam HAS to have more than two notes.Even a bridge that walks up and back to the root note, just something to break it up every few measures.A hypnotic cool groove can become boring when mixed w/a room of alchohol.Try the 'pass the hat' routine;every fourth time 'round, take turns throwin in a little fill.My band does this often, and people love it!This goes for BARNEY also.
I truly enjoyed UNRAVELED,and think you guys are onto something there, but it sounds..rushed.Cut the drums beat count in half or better, and it would have a sweet, soulful 'smokey blues'sound.
Once again,I know you're startin new,and you've got potential,but,you asked

Ok so first off great feed back.
1st Random jam is acctually in a song so its just a bit of the jam that your hearing, and its not really jammed out that long in the song 1min or2 and back into the song. But i here what your saying 1 time around guitar next time around some keys next some bass last the drums im sure order dont mater that much, while keeping the groove.just some more fills with in the modes YES or NO.

Barney I feel if just keep the main line going and drive the song a bit and let the keys go off and then the guitar then the two lines to finish.I will try to venture up the neck a bit I dont like loosing the groove or drive because its hard to get the energy back once lost.

Unraveled im not sure if the singer even knows the speed she likes. But ya a bit rushed I see that. Do you think we could make it more rocky because im not a fan of the blues but I aim to please the band.I love the song shes got a great voice right. But that all she can do is the blues. I try to tell her to be more versitale but shes a bit stuborn.

Well how about the BREWA thats more of a band writen song its a bit weird but has a lot of work gone into it.
1- lyrics- what do ya think
2-structure-what do ya think
3-the funk change-does it sound ok
4-the 2 stops- yes or no
5-do you like the main line- i messed up a few times but its there
6-do you like it into the barney

Thanks again guys

I like this stuff, I was in a similar jammy type band and it was fun. We recorded in similar fashion so I understand that it probably sounds even better and fuller live in the room.

I listened to several tracks and in my opinion I think the drummer is doing just fine for you guys only being together five months. I'm not getting why you would want to retool with a new drummer.

I would also echo what funkingroovin said. I would see if you guys can take the Brewa'>Barney jam to some sort of crescendo.

I think you guys are on the right track!

Sounds good reminds me a little of Phish at times. I would suggest working on song structures and cut out some of the excessive noodling. Trim the songs down a bit and try and work in some backup vocals. I like that the guitar player, he or she plays pretty clean not distorted, I'm not used to playing with many guitar players who can settle down with just simple clean chords so thats a bonus.

We all work together to make the music better. Our drummer is staying now I finally got through to him that he needs to practice at home to, not just in the studio when were ready to layit down. My guitarist we make him play clean, we all found cleaner is better, yes on the bass to,lol.I can see a few more months of grulling practice and were ready to take the next step..

Retooling is not going to happen I only said that because I really didnt know who I could find as a drummer to make it all work.

Phish, yes we love phish greatest band eva.My guitarist uses a lot of the same effects trey uses. Im still finding my sound myself. Its funny because ive been listening to phish for 10-12 years now and gordo kinda got me on the bass, same as for trey to my guitarist, page to my keyboadist, and fish to my drummer, we all respect what they do and when we go to a show our listening ears go right to our insturments to find new and intresting changes and approaches. Great stuff

Ok crescendo means to make it get more powerful as the song progresses correct. I feel were doing that now since the songs on our space are a few months old and you just dont know so il try to put some better takes of each song up in a few weeks. Its hard my keyboardist is our tec and he works all that out at home, but once we get drum mics it will be easyer to do with my recorder in a few takes.

Thanks for the input guys, So Phish On.

yeah a crescendo like during YEM when Trey hits that really long note. Or when Garcia shreds during Deal. If you're doing that now, great....I'd love to hear some of those versions.
