I'm going to dare to tempt sod's law by telling the bass world that, following the departure of my drummer and keyboardist to university, I've found a great new drummer and saxophonist. We've had four rehearsals together so far - here's how we were sounding on the last one:

New Old World (Harsent/Claber)

Single Mother (Claber)

The Way You Used Me (Harsent/Claber)

Adrian Harsent - Guitar
William Melis - Drums
Dan Sherrington - Tenor Sax
C. Alexander Claber - Bass, Vocals, Lyrics

Time to get some gigs!

What Genre?

Funk man. I hear Funk 100%

Personally, I don't like the vocals. And for some reason, I could really hear when the drummer switched from the Hi-Hat to the Snare on the first song. Just really got to me. I dunno.

Aside from that, good stuff!

Thanks for the feedback Mark! The tracks were recorded with one of those cheap minidisc mics, which don't do great things particularly for the drums.

My vocals are an acquired taste (not sure if I've acquired them yet but I'm really working on getting them better!) I've kind of ended up the lead singer because of the challenges of finding a decent one, the fact that I write all the songs (though with two of these the guitarist contributed the underlying riffs/changes/arrangement), and I've found I really enjoy the playing and singing simultaneously challenge. Also, it makes running the band really easy because, to quote Sting, everyone's running between my rails of bass of vocals.

Funk, eh? The first song does get referred to as the african funk one in the band, and the third is our most blatantly funk number. The second is more of an oddity but I guess it fits with the trio.
