New Bongo video

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everybody.

In the middle of a really heavy working and studying schedule, I've used the International Workers' Day to record a new video with my Bongo. Not visiting the forums so much nowadays, but may this be a way to let you know that TalkBass is always on my mind. Hope you enjoy it and find it useful. As usual, please read the video notes.

Great playing and really, really great tone Alvaro!

I just thought I would mention, saying as I know you're a big fan of his, as am I, that I will finally be seeing Stuart Hamm live, as I have front row, center seating tickets for Joe Satriani's show in Newcastle on the 13th of this month!

Hey Chris, Is Stu back in Joe's band? I've heard rumours that he will play in my country this year!!

Wow. That's just outrageous playing. When I had a Bongo I could not make it sound 1/4 that good. When you slap the E, that is what I perceive to be the ideal bass growl. Share the EQ, please

Sure! Mine is a MM Bongo with two humbuckers, piezo bridge and 4-band EQ. I plugged it into my Kustom KBA30 practice amp, which line output was connected to my sound card (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum). Here's how the amp's EQ settings look like:

According to the manufacturer, "Notch" is a "Dramatic cut filter. It is 'notched' at a rate of -15dB. The width of the notch is set at one octave and can be swept from 45 Hz to 1 KHz. It will create a very precise subtraction of undesirable overtones or allow you to fine tune your tone settings".

The bass' controls are set like this: All pickups full (magnets + piezos). Lo-mid flat and the other three frequencies (low, hi-mid and high) slightly above the flat position by the same amount (Think of "6" in a 1 to 10 control, being "5" the flat position).

Hope this helps.
