Cool. I've been waiting for this to be released. I'm listening to it right now and digging it very much. Thanks for posting this.

Streaming it now. I'm 3/4 through and I'd say it's one of their lesser works, but that isn't to say that it isn't good - it's just not great like some of the older stuff. Worth a listen for sure.

Better than most old bands come up with when they try though. Have you listened to AC/DC's latest album?

In my top 5 favorite bands. I love The Cars. I saw them as The New Cars, and I was blown away. This year, I'm seeing them in NYC, and they're at Lollapalooza! It's gonna be an awesome summer! I'm seeing the original boys TWICE!

And yes, Ben Orr was amazing. It's a shame he can't be there with them for this triumphant return

Go to YouTube and type in The Cars live 1979. There are several very cool live videos. Ben Orr was great. Though I have to note that Ric Ocasek wrote all the songs, so it's really "Ben Orr's interpretation of Ric Ocasek's music".

Weird...I was just listening to the Cars Greatest Hits about a week ago. Didn't know they had new music coming out. Very cool, though.

EDIT: Just gave them a listen. Still sounds like The Cars (of course).

Did you ever hear The Cars' cover of The Nightcrawlers song Little Black Egg. Benjamin Orr did lead vocals on this song. This was a demo that is available on their anthology. They could have released this and probably had a hit with it.

+1, and I had considered myself a fan. I only made it to Track 6, kinda wish I had that 30 minutes back.

--No hits. Nothing even close to "Bye Bye Love" or "Best Friend's Girl."

--Drum machine? Really? I remember detecting this on earlier Cars records and being equally disappointed.

--Where are the signature Elliot Easton guitar solos?

--Ocasek's voice is far too monotonous to hold down all lead vocals. This was the brilliance of Ben Orr. They really need that second (and arguably better) voice.

--Weak vocal production, no signature lush harmonies, I'm guessing Roy Thomas Baker was busy, not approached, or not interested. Pity.

I'd love to hear a new Cars release, but I don't think this is it. Sheesh, "Not Tonight" was far better and more Cars-like than any of the new stuff.

+1. Ben Orr was a fantastic vocalist, and really added something special. Ocasek is still awesome IMO, but the sweetness of Orr's voice took it to another level. Ric defined their sound, Orr added levels to it.

I can't agree that "Not Tonight" is far more like old Cars stuff, but I DO like that song! Haha. Of course nothing will compare to Candy-O, Hello Again, Bye Bye Love, but I'm still excited regardless

Sounds like a Ric Ocasek solo album so far (though one after he spent some time inside of ProTools) ... not that that's bad.

I was a fan back in the day. Covered a bunch of it. "Moving in Stereo" was always my fav to cover. Saw 'em live a few times. Ben Orr (RIP) was not real impressive live beyond his voice - they kept him on a tight leash. Tough to tell if he could actually play or not based on what they let him get away with.

Ben Orr's distinctive vocals were so much a part of the Cars sound it's hard to imagine the band without them.

Word! I've been on a huge Cars kick lately, I had no idea this album was coming out. Gonna listen to the whole thing before I comment.

Well, I've listened to this album about 4 times now...and I love it! I'm super biased because I love The Cars, and I really miss Ben's vocal parts. Those are some of my favorite songs. But after a 23 year hiatus, I think this was a nice attempt, and I truly enjoy the album. Blue Tip is the perfect single, and although the other songs aren't "knock it outta the park" singles, IMO, they get the job done, and keep me happy and singing. So glad this was done, and I'm SO excited to be seeing them twice this year! I'm expecting it to be great, and their Lollapalooza set is gonna be amazing.

I'm with you on that! I've been playing along to the greatest hits and Candy-O for weeks now. It's not getting old. I'm thinking of starting a one night only Tribute to The Cars band. I even learned Ben's vocal parts!

That's how I also feel.

Back in the day I loved the Cars. Thought thier songs were very catchy and very intersting. We use to play some of thier songs back then and they would always get people up and dancing. Fun stuff.
