Mark Egan - Truth be Told. It may not be brand spanking new, but I just read the review in this month's Downbeat and had to pick it up. If you love fretless bass, he's for you.

It might not be your thing but metal has been dropping some real bombs lately. For bass players Between the Buried and Mes "The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues" has some amazing bass playing and so does Scale the Summits "The Collective" and Protest the Heros "Scurrilous". There has been a ton of good metal coming out lately but if your not really into stuff that heavy Scale the Summits album still should really be checked out (they don't have a singer, it's just groovy not super heavy metal) and Protest has a lot of singing and isn't your "stereotypical" metal band.
