Ok, I have to admit, I am the furthest thing from a creed fan...

However I heard the new single today, "Overcome" I think, and I am impressed...

Great song, great line, great vocals, great "move me" track.

Well, they have had the last 15 years free with nothing to do but practice (and smack their wives around, yea I said it)...so I would hope they have figured it out...

I'm ashamed to admit that Creed is a guilty pleasure for me. I remember the first time I heard My Own Prison. That was the first rock song that really spoke to me. It was kind of different than anything I had heard before. That first album of theirs was really incredible. Their original bass player was good too.

I just listened to Overcome (studio version) and it is pretty good. I don't care for Stapp's voice so much. He never sang "well", but his voice fit the music well. It sounds like years of straining has taken its toll though. Still good and I'll still listen. Tremonti is a great riffmaster.

The live version is much less impressive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JDOJ...eature=related

Stapp sounds like he is going to die.

Hehe. I think the comparison to Pearl Jam is a fair one, but to me their music is a bit different. Creed is a lot tighter as a band and the music was darker, all in my opinion of course. I actually like Eddie Vedder less than Scott Stapp. I had heard Pearl Jam before Creed and they just didn't do it for me like Creed did. But I was only like 14 at the time. So what did I know? As I said, Creed is a guilty pleasure; one that I am almost ashamed of.

I liked Alter Bridge better. Since this is a bass forum, I'll have to say that I really like Brian Marshall as a bassist. He has great tone and I think he plays very creatively and actively without ever playing too much.

That said, if I ever meet Scott Stapp in person, I promise TB that I will punch him in the face as hard as I can It just has to be done.

Ill admit it as well i really enjoyed the new song, really solid stuff. Ill also admit that i have always been a huge closet Creed fan (infact the first big concert i went to was them)

This morning on our Alternative radio station 105.7 'the point' Woody and Rizzudo took a text message poll for the new song with 1 being the worst and 5 being excellent, then they played the song without giving any hints to who it was at all, i think after they tallied the votes there was like 58% who voted 4's and 5's and only like 19% who voted a 2 or 1 (dont quote me on the 1's and 2's lol) but after they announced who it was all kinds of creed hat started coming in. The usual "Aww **** if i would have known that was creed i wouldnt have given it a 4" or " **** i gave that a 5 if i would have guessed it was creed i would have given it a 1" They also had Scott Stapp call in at 9 and they asked him all kinds of questions but right as he called in i had to get out of my car for work.

I voted a solid 4 on the song myself lol i wasnt to sure about it, and to be honest i thought it was a new Alice in Chains song at first.

+1

The Alter Bridge singer was better than Scott Stapp. I really like the simple bass intro to Illusion, from their first album. He compliments the music well I think.

I'm really surprised people couldn't tell who it was. Scott Stapp does seem like a total tool. But, if people liked the song, what does it matter who sings it if it sounds good? If Pete Wentz puts out a decent bass line, I'll give him credit. Luckily, I'll never be held to that comment.

I liked the album "my own prison" simply because of the bass lines. They just spoke to me. Brian Marshall is a good bassist that moves around well and has great tone.

Not sure if Ill like the new stuff or not.

Yes, Creed has some awesome & beautiful songs. Pleasure to play them with a band in the bars these days. Now if I could get my band to learn some kickin' Alter Bridge tunes...
