My Judas Priest fan ex guitarist has been telling me about this for some time... seems it's gonna see the light of day next month.

Judas Priest's guitarist Glenn Tipton was asked to record a solo disc in 96. He called upon a couple of the best around.... John Entwistle and Cozy Powell!!!

Coming March 7th....

What a great rhythm section, and sadly departed.

I cannot believe no one else commented.... The Ox playing in an 80s type metal band! I always thought he was better suited as a metal guy myself.

I just got my copy yesterday... Not bad. Glenn sings and it's clear why he sings back up in Priest. The songs are ok... a little cheesy but I'm glad I bought it.

Quote:
"Back in '96 when I approached Atlantic Records regarding my first solo album, the majority of the songs featured Cozy Powell on drums and John Entwistle on bass guitar. The label liked the material but suggested that the line up was a little 'old school' and that I should work with some younger musicians and blend the new tracks in to give the album a more modern feel. This I did as I had very little choice at the time and in all honesty a very good album emerged which became my first release - 'Baptizm Of Fire'.

However, deep down inside I knew that the first batch of songs included some of the finest playing from two of the most talented and legendary musicians that I have ever worked with! Rhino/Warners heard the tracks recently and agreed that this album had to see the light of day!!

Tragically, both Cozy and John are no longer with us, as I'm sure everyone will know, and this album is a tribute to their unique styles and skills and a small part of the immense legacy they have left behind which will continue to inspire people all over the world for many years to come."

I heard the songwriting was kinda dissappointing. Blabbermouth gave it a horrendous review.

yeah... it's weak vocally in performance and composition. The guitar / bass / drums are pretty ok though.

Is it worth getting as an Entwistle fan? Is he up front in the mix, with plenty of his signature style and tone?

it's a metal guitarists solo disc.... John is playing metal with a killer drummer and guitarist.

no bass solos
mixed like 80s metal (read guitar is all that matters )

I won't listen to it much, but to me, it was worth the $15 I paid.
