New funky-jazz-n-beats tune from me

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I just finished this odd little tune yesterday on GB - lots of different ideas floating about - I wanted to try using the 4-finger plucking for chords and for a funky bass break down in the middle - the fretless solo at the end is nice and tuneful and I'm really into the whole beats thing but I really need to start using something other than bloody loops - er, and there's some scratch samples too!

I hope you like some of it - all comments welcome

Sounds great to me! The timing was nice during some of the technical sections. I liked it.

Nice track Mike. The auto-wah (or whatever it is) in combination with the mwahful slides on the high notes for the solo line near the beginning could have the open/close rate slowed down a bit (sounds like the bass is talking under water ), but other than that it's quite cool- very insistent. Diggin' the doubled part at the end.

very cool.

i like the "4-finger" chords' harmonies and personally would have tried to find a melody over them, but i guess the way you play them they work for themselves.

also, your fretless simply sounds great.

Cheers Chris - I know what you mean about the chords but since I have only really just got this multi-pluck thing sounding vauely synchopated I didn't want to throw too much on top of it - and I think the fretless solo is one of the best I've ever recorded purely as it was onlt the third take and it just came out like that - if you know what I mean.

Thanks

Cool, there's a Graceland vibe in it and it's sounding very modern at the same time.

Great solo too

Cheers V - I like the fact you heard something in it that I didn't - that's very cool - glad you dug it.
