Cool. I didn't know Jimi was hanging out with Tupac and Elvis.

Yeah, I play a little bass too. I could tell what you were doing there. You were playing some major and minor scales. I was watching your hands.

As much as I hate the way Experience Hendrix has been plastering Jimi's name on everything, I have to admit I will be buying this album when it comes out.

From Guitar World...
"Janie Hendrix, CEO of Experience Hendrix LLC, the Hendrix family-owned company entrusted with preserving and protecting the legacy of Jimi Hendrix, noted, 'My brother Jimi was at home in the studio. Valleys of Neptune offers deep insight into his mastery of the recording process and demonstrates the fact that he was as unparalleled a recording innovator as he was a guitarist. His brilliance shines through on every one of these precious tracks.'"

I don't doubt that she's absolutely right, but...

Janie was a young child when her mother married Al Hendrix, Jimi's father, in 1966. Jimi was already an adult and a world-famous phenomenon at the time. So when she goes on about "my brother Jimi", well... I take it with a grain of salt. The more accurate term would be stepbrother.

She's one of the luckiest people on Earth, to have been inserted into the Hendrix legacy like that. And she's making the most of it. For the details of Jimi's life and hideously tangled legal aftermath, and Janie's rise to control the estate, get an excellent book called Jimi Hendrix: The Man, The Magic, The Truth, by Sharon Lawrence.

Let me say first I'm a huge Hendrix fan.

I got to see Hendrix in 1970, when I was 10.

This track seems kind of rough, and unfinished.
Kind of demo quality.

Yes it's Hendrix, but it is sub-par to me.
I know any new Hendrix is good, but?
I will buy the CD, but I hope rest is better?

not sure about this. if it's not eddie kramer mixed and handled, i don't think i'll be into it.

after reading his book on Jimi, I'm only trusting his Hendrix releases as Legit and "Jimi Approved", he after all was the one who didn't want to release a lot of the unreleased stuff stating "Jimi wouldn't approve of this stuff, it's garbage and he only wanted the best out there"

I'm hesitant...

This material has been circulating as bootlegs for years, in fact there was a 10-disc set of almost everything Hendrix did in the studio in 1970...

and its good stuff.

Yeah, Deluge of Sound is right. This stuff has been available in collector circles for many years. There are a few hundred cd's worth of stuff between studio outtakes, alternate versions and beaucoup live concerts. Sound quality varies wildly though on the live stuff.

For the Jimi fan, it's great. Even though the 'new' releases may (or not be) sub-par quality, it's are better than most of the new music available these days, IMO.
