Pretty cool.
I hate to say it but I think Jay Kay's voice is weaker than it used to be.

Cool, but I would not assume that his voice is weeker just based on one video (but maybe you have other evidence).

That is always fun to see an F Bass being used in a band that I love (that is because I am an F Bass owner)

Anyone know what type of amp he is using?

That F Bass is beautiful and Paul Turner is a great example of the Bernard Edwards school of funkiness. The irony is that he sounds just like he did playing his SR5. Dude could have saved himself some money unless that F Bass is way lighter. I know my SR5 HH is pretty heavy.

For what it's worth, those F-basses are extremely light. Mine is lighter than any 4 string bass I've ever owned.

I can understand getting a lighter bass. As I said, SR5s can be pretty heavy.

He should also be getting his new Nordy pretty soon too. I guess the Nordy and F Bass will be fighting it out for stage time!

Single pup SR5s get the back pickup sound pretty easily since the single pickup is more or less in the bridge position. I've heard tapes of Paul Turner on a SR5 sounding pretty much like he did in that video.

I've seen the tapes with Paul Turner playing the SR5 too...and I actually like the tone of the SR5 a little more -- its a little ballsier and bassier.

[disclaimer: SR5 player]

He's a killer fingerstyle player whatever he's playing, of course!

Plenty of stuff out there if you know where to look

Live in verona is the only released one, I think. Bunch of boots on the net though. IIRC Tokyo Dome '99 and '97 in arizona (forget exact title) are pretty good.

Yeah great stuff!
My comment on Jay's voice...

I just remember it being very strong and pure a while ago. It's been weathered for better or worse - he probably smokes and all that.

Great playing, a little to much bridgepickupsound to my taste - and actually too much bass in the mix as well. (Thought IŽd never say that!)

One of my favorite Jamiroquai songs. Thanks for posting!

Here's a link to the wild music video for this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDgPG...elated&search=

nice one.....

my respect for Paul Turner has gone way up now, hadn't really seen him live before and I don't own the new record hah! Guess it was foolish of me to think that any mug could get the Jamiroquai gig haha (one of the top gigs in world bass playing I'd say, would be an absolute pleasure to jam those songs out all over the world!). Wouldnt say the bass sounded too much like an SR5 tho, has enough neck pup in there and that bass just sounds alot warmer than an SR5 with less bite. Not sure what I would prefer for that tune in particular.
