Just thought this might interest some of you. The new Mars volta live album 'Scabdates' can be streamed from their website: www.themarsvolta.com Fairly bad mp3 quality but sounds interesting

This is an awesome album some unbelievable improv going on. Also Juan Alderete totally rocks on it, with some far out effects getting a lot of use and he stays fully locked in with the drummer - who is probably the best drummer i've ever seen live. He is basically the conductor of their long jams as far as i can tell.

Incidentally, i'm going to see them in Birmingham tomorrow night - needless to say i can't wait!

Two albums into their career and they make a live album? That's a little too early, imo.

They've been together a couple of years. Who cares how early they release it? All I know that its a pretty fine album.

Sorry, I'm still a bitter ATD-I fan.

It doesnt matter how early into their career they are. Ced and Omar kicked ass in ATDI and are much more professional musicians now, and the mars volta is so unique that it deserves whatever they put out.
