New Melvins Album?.....

Has anybody heard this yet in it's entirety?..... I haven't had any luck finding it yet. I saw them a couple of weeks ago in Austin & was blown away. I've been a LOOOOOONG time fan and this was my first time seeing them live.

They've kinda got a different sound with this album & I'm diggin' it! I've never really kept up with they're lineup but I know they've been through quite a few members. I think that might have something to do with it.

One of the opening bands was a band called Porn. They were pretty rad too. Tons of effects and the Melvins' two drummers.

Anyway, just thought I'd let ya'll know.....

I got a copy from my guitarist, I really liked it. I honestly liked it more than the first Melvins/Big Business combo, I think they are using the dual drums in a more interesting fashion. I think it's a better representation of both bands smashed together, I really dig it.

Porn is good stuff (

), they use to be called "The Men of Porn" I'm not sure why they switched their name, but it's good stoner rock type stuff.

Yeah, I had never heard Big Business until this tour & I was highly impressed. As for the Big Business/Melvins combo, was this the same lineup from "Senile Animal"?.... Because I haven't heard that album in it's entirey either.

If that's the case I've got some catching up to do. I bought the supposed "live" album which was pretty much the "Houdini" album recorded in warehouse supposedly. It was a great listen.

I'm a huge Melvins fan. So far I've only listened to the new album 'Nude With Boots' once and I prefer A Senile Animal but it's still very good.

before you listen to 'nude with boots' i think you should go back and check out some of their older albums first (Ozma,Prick,Stag,Stoner Witch,The maggot etc...) so you can hear how far they've come as far as sculpting their sound and keeping the material fresh for its time. One of the greatest bands of all time hands down that never gets very much credit for influencing pretty much every stoner/sludge/doom and even drone bands that i listen to.

I never got too hip on "A Senile Animal" due to the fact that I think I had my expectations of throwing Big Business into the mix waaaaay to high.

I was a bit surprised by how much I liked "Nude With Boots" due to the fact that it was even less of what I expected from the combo. While there was a bit of what I did expect (and what keeps me buying albums) from the Melvins on it, there are some tunes that just.... groove. Not that I didn't think Jared was capable but I just found myself pleasantly surprised. I also agree that the Dale/Coady combo was utilized a lot more effectively on this one.

I do think that the Melvins have lost a lot of what I always dug about them in recent years. I am more of a Ozma, Bullhead, Egg Nog kind of guy. What can you do? They are one band that I seriously doubt that I'll ever not love.

Yeah, I actually own all of those except Stag...... I've been a longtime fan since I first heard of them in '92 or '93 or something. I was actually commenting on how their sound isn't so much drone, sludge anymore and with what I've heard off the new album. I actually like it....
