New MP3 from me - fretless epic...!

I can't believe how hard this was to get even half right - I got to the tune together the other day - but getting the thing down and playing a solo I was even a quarter of the way happy with was pretty heavy - this is a demo of something I'd like to do with a band but in the meantime you'll have to endure a lot of me...it's mainly on fretless with some chords and double tracked things - feedback most welcome.

Thanks for listening:

It's alright, but I'm much more of a fan of your slap stuff. Ismyour old website not back up yet? Any word on the slap tutorial DVD you were planning?

very cool. some of the ideas seem a bit unrelated, so maybe you could make some of the transitions smoother? (this is probably something that has to be developed with a band)

the melodic could be a little more clear - it lacks a bit of the "statement" quality.

the bass sounds are great.

i think it's very cool that you work on so many different playing styles and techniques...

Thanks for your comments Chris - you're a very thoughtful listener - I definitely agree with your critique and this is really just a demo - though I am trying to see how different i ideas I have work against and with each other - I hope I can get the jazz band to try some of this out, anyway thanks again. Though I am pleased with the way the fretless sound has come out - Garage band is a great little program - I just need to master Logic now...

I liked your "stuff" very much! I've been a fan of Mark Egan/Elements (band) for a long time and your piece was very remeniscent of that, but
your solos were 'edgier'/bop-pier which I liked very much. I also LIKED their length. I can't ever get enough bass.

I look forward to hearing more!

It was pretty obvious from your written description on i compositions, that it was still in the "workshop". I like where it's headed though!

(if you put out a CD with the band of your vision, I can get it to several University program directors for airplay consideration if you're interested.
PM me at that time?)

Thanks Jim - that sounds great - I'm working out the next version of this tune and I think I'm going to try and add some keyboards (played by my mate Darren) as I think it's a cool tune, it just needs some more work - the comments are appreciated.

Cheers

Mike
