New Myspace page: Universal Sounds of Error

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to share my group's Myspace page with you. Besides being a regular lurker at Talkbass, I am hardly active on the web and the others are even worse than me, so I'm quite happy that we managed to make something like this.

The first track is a bit more 'alternative' sounding than the other two. The second track has the clearest bass-sound and was recorded with a four string bass tuned BEAD.

The songs are part of a cd that we've recorded ourselves, and hoping to finish later this year (after doing vocals, mixing, etc.).

You can find it here:

Forgot to mention that it would be nice to read some feedback from fellow-bass players, of course. The basic tracks for most songs were recorded simultaneously at a very low volume, in a room full of blankets and carpets, although the first track differs a lot from the rest and was recorded at a relatively high volume.

I like it. I'm not sure what else to say beside the songs are well written and everything blends very well. Good work.

I like the tunes. Radiohead inspired, but it does stand nicely on it's own.

Hi there, thanks a lot for listening and sharing your comments. I agree about the Radiohead influence - I feel it has especially influenced the vocal melodies, both guitarists used to listen a lot to Radiohead.

Speaking of Radiohead...I remember from years ago that a Dutch radio-show played the full 'Kid A' album for the first time, I think still before it was released. I recall that at that time both guitarists of this band and I felt it was a big bad joke, and we could hardly believe that the band was really going to release that. It's several years later now and I really appreciate both the Kid A and Amnesiac albums!

I think Kid A may well be my favorite Radiohead at this point.

I'm not sure if I would rate Kid A over Amnesiac (although Pyramid song distorts the average). Difficult for me to define a best Radiohead album - although 'There There' on the last album is one of the best songs I ever heard, the album is not that consistent in quality. Didn't like the Thom Yorke solo album much beyond the third track.

I realise my thread about sharing our myspace page is turning into a thread about radiohead, so just dropping the link for balance:

Really nice, I agree with the above comments.

I like the darkness & textured sound
