I've just received some new tracks off the new Nickelback album, Dark Horse....it's the standard Nickelback mix of ballads mixed with heavier rock tunes. What's different is that the riffs have gone more classic rock and bluesy than on previous albums. BUT, the main point is, Mike's bass sounds like it's going to tear your face off. It's what I like to hear. Anyone else got it? |

Cheesey! Mind you I didn't own the album so I wasn't "ripped off". I wish I had a link to that, maybe someone else here has it?

I can see a market for this.
I seem to like Nickelback˛.
We did mash ups like that in my first band.
an Incubus song mashed with a Disturbed song
I Alone (live) with me playing the Orion bass interlude instead of the regular bassline
sorry for the derailing
If Nickelback makes people happy with their music that's good.
They are not forcing me to buy their albums. (It would take a lot of force.)
The Nickelback talent&originality issue is beating a dead horse.

HOWEVER, what I don't get it the amount of hate Nickelback receive....what did they do to deserve this? It also annoys me when I hear people go 'Nickelback fans should be shot because they aren't a propper rock band'. Well, excuse me, who decides what propper rock IS? And for the record, I like Pantera, Metallica, AIC, Slipknot, and various other heavy bands. I just don't like the 'I can't like any form of music if the band release anything that is remotely commercial' attitude that seems to stem from some fans of metal and rock. |

I really have a tough time believing that anybody on this forum used to playing in front of 25 to 200 people would tell Nickelback to take a hike if offered the bass spot. A world tour playing in arenas with tons of pyro to 10,000+ fans each night or suffer in obscurity for the love of the music. I know what my choice would be.
For what it's worth Nickelback used to play local bars in our city before they hit it big. They had a great reputation for being a throw-it-down live act. Winnipeg was one of the first cities anywhere to catch onto the band.
Still their ballads don't do much for me.
