"The Little People" by J. Zach Bello
For the last 4 years I have been trying to start up a "solo record"... one on which I play every instrument... but every time I tried to start something, I simply didn't like it.
Finally, I started something I like the direction of.
Obviously it's a work in progress... it needs variation on the drum track... and vocals... but so far, I'm pretty happy...
I used to do a lot of experimental, ambient, soundtrack-y electronic music... now I play funk... so I figured, "hey, why not blend the two?"
I'd love some feedback... constructive criticism is always appreciated, and this website hasn't failed me yet... let me know!

I could imagine that song playing in some kind of a movie in which a casino was being robbed, and the robbers walking in to the casino in slow motion, the main guy pulling out a shotgun out of his leather trench-coat, shooting a warning shot and yelling out "This is an armed robbery! Gimme all your goddamn money!"
I had actually been looking for that kind of music, just with a little more jazz influence, but you interpreted the kind of music I have been looking for almost perfectly.
Great stuff! keep it coming!

The music I write, especially when synths and stuff are involved, always gets talked about as reminding people of a soundtrack to a movie... hence why I chose Filmscoring as my major at Berklee lol.
Perhaps, when I write lyrics, the song'll be about crime... I dunno... I'm thinking this may be the start of a "concept album"... and I'm thinking the theme may just be "life", a la Dark Side of the Moon, but from my perspective, rather than Roger Waters'.

I'm having trouble imagining it with vocals, I'm half imaging it with a male, rap vocal, half imagining it with a female RnB type vocal, but mainly I'm getting the sound track vibe, I keep imagining the casino scene mentioned by IanIan. Would you be changing the arrangement, to fit the lyrics once you have wrote them, or are you going to try and fit the lyrics around the arrangement you have? |

I'm going to be doing the vocals, and my voice has been described as sounding a lot like Thurston Moore... so I'm not so sure if rappings going to happen... I have a Vocal Transformer, though... and that can make me sound black lol
