Hello all! I just finished a new song and I was looking for some input. Any and all is welcome. Fretless MIM Jazz into Cubase Essential with a light chorus and a limiter. Thanks!

i liked it!
the title is very fitting as well. the heart-beat drum track was perfect although i would suggest a few more layers. perhaps a solo that counters the melody. IMHO

Yes, good stuff. I love ambient/electronic music, especially if it has atypical bass work. As mentioned, don't be afraid of adding some more layers - perhaps a busy 16th note sequenced key part low in the mix as the piece builds, or some more persistent percussion. Those are some things I respond to. I'd definitely give more of your material a listen.

Thanks! I worry about adding too much because I don't want it to sound cluttered, but I will definitely try something like that with the next song. Thanks again.

the thing i like about layers are what they do to the listener. ever listen to your favorite song a month later with better head phones, better stereo, even the same system. you have those "OMG" moments. there's music under, over, in the song that becomes just another reason to listen again. not to say i don't enjoy sparsity! gl.

I like music that evokes and image in my brain. Here is what I thought when I listened to this:

"Guy in early thirties in a leather jacket, jeans cuffed on the bottom, boots, and t-shirt (like old hot rodder or Rocker look) dragging a bass through a field by the neck as the body "plows" the field at dusk with the sun glowing bright orange between tall trees in the background. There is a woman in a white dress, long hair flowing & barefoot running after him as if he was leaving her and she doesn't want him to go. He is walking at a steady pace and no matter how hard she runs, she never catches him and he disappears into the darkness"

that's awesome JT!!!

i was on the DB threads one day and critiqued some works from a soloists and i think i insulted him.

i stated he should rename his piece. i described how it made me feel like a young girl who was visiting Paris for the first time. this music took me on a visual/aural journey and that's how i expressed it.

i guess he was looking for a different response. lol

Music is more then just sound. Its an emotion. Every song has a story, passion, feeling. What it brings out of you may bring something different from the next listener. But as long as it provokes something, then you did something right.
