Hey,
as some of you maybe have seen, I was over at "band management" posting about our singer not singing in pitch Telling Sigurd to work on his pitch
well now the song is done.
as I stated in the other post - we ended up using a vocal recording done for an ealier taker. that plus many hours of fixing timing/pitch (Melodyne - I looooooove you) we got this: http://www.myspace.com/HOSdk/music/s...e-mp3-79442917
please critique it - it's recorded at our home studio. |

I found it reminded me of Widespread Panic. But with much better basslines.

I agree on the timing issues.
this is recorded on a pro tools 8.04 LE system and we've had serious latency issues with it.
the computer is more than adequate to run the program - really don't know what's wrong. we did a test where we added a click track - and recorded it while the record track was muted, with a mic to speaker. we found out that the recorded track comes too soon. like the protools system overcompensates for latency.
of course there is the fact that I have only played bass for like 2½ years - so the human factor is there too. Recording while knowing that it's gonna be out of sync on playback is really frustrating. Not gonna touch this number with pro tools any time soon again - but if you have any ideas as to why there is this latency issue. we had a master fader on the recording ( yeah we don't know pro tools that much - still learning) and deactivating that actually helped a bit. but the recorded sound is still like 30 ms ahead.
thanks for all the input - I mostly agree, there is some reverb on the vocal, but he's not recording in a bathroom that's for sure. as for chorus on the bass I acutally think its more the defretter on the bossGT10b you hear.

I like the song quite a bit, and I can't tell there is anything done to the voice, it sounds good. There is a bit of dragging in the drumming, but at least it's real drums and not something else....
I like the sound of your bass too. Keep it up! =)

One of them being not putting effects and master fader on before we are done recording all the tracks. Did a click test test in that project tonight. Meaning mute record playback of click coming out of the monitors. It's way off. Like half a second or so. Weird thing is that recorded click is actually ahead. Pro tools is overcompensating for latency - any ideas on how to fix this? |

Great for getting the basic message, but nothing to rely upon for specifics. I've been speaking Norwegian for 20 years (minus two years of 'babydom') my friend, if I really wanted to cuss I would. |

I'm not arguing though ... just reporting.

Then again, us Europeans are a lot more lax when it comes to language.
Regardless, I really respect your contribution as a supporting member to the forum and wouldn't want you to be uncomfortable with the word being there, so I changed it (google translate it now ).
And the focus of the thread is Crusie's sick new song! Again, really liked it man! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
