I like the tone, first and foremost. Melodically, I'm still hungry. I'm not sure what the melody is about - a little "mr. PC", but not enough....
Fretless sounds really good.
I really like what you're doing from a bass player standpoint! But I'm having trouble with the structure of this tune....but hell, what do I know? You play great, man!

I don't know if you are looking for criticism, but if you are, I agree with Pacman on the melody--it leaves me wanting a little more--did you program that line in? it sounds a lot to me that it sounds like it has perfect timing. I think maybe it needs a little more funk phrasing or something--I can hear a good melody in there though.
If you were to have that line played live by a slide guitar player, it would sound really really cool! Actually a lot of it reminds me of a mix of old and new Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey.
Overall, I really liked it |

Overall, I really liked it | All good man - I agree about the melody, not one of my best but I may well work on it some more - glad you like the vibe though, and yes I'd love to get some real guitar on this - I am doing a couple of other tracks with a real live and very good sax player so where I can I am using top jazz players here in London - but this is all going towards what will be my first actual album... so in a way this is all about working through some of these old ideas, learning from them and then working on new stuff... it's all moving in the right direction, it just takes a hell of a long time.
Thanks for listening

The main riff features some very cool atonal riffs, however the groovyness (ie. simplicity) of the drums and bass seems to contrast this in a way that is a little jarring.
Likewise when the fretless mwah really kicks in about 1/3 through - the busy drums are a bit distracting.
And then the bass solo - VERY well done, but its rapid speed doesn't sound like it fits with the mood.
The ending part is good, everything synchs well.
In closing, I think you have a bunch of great parts of songs that should perhaps not be part of the same song. Keep at it, production quality is impressive!

I've finished some MUCH more cohesive pieces recently and they really do flow better than this - but I really appreciate all the constructive criticism here - it's really, really helpful and I'm happy that you guys can hear the good bits and have highlighted the bits I thought might need some work. All good - thanks again guys.
