Funny thing is Rockpile was strangely mediocre live, as they were all fairly accomplished musicians. maybe they were all drunk, apparently the Stiff tours were sodden.
I disagree!! Check out any number of live Rockpile shows available on the net, winterland, bottom line, etc. those guys were smoking! And they did tons of live radio simulcasts as well.
If you listen to the rest of the songs on "Jesus of Cool" nick does take offs on the Jackson 5, Bowie, Bay City Rollers, Thin Lizzy was only one of his targets on that record...

I need to dig out my copy of "Pure Pop for Now People" as they called it when it came out over here. Great songs by a great song writer but I never caught the Thin Lizzy conection. Hey but that may be due to my lack of familiarity beyond the Thin Lizzy radio hits.
