That said, there are some real standout moments on this. It seems that Trent is in a wannabe white boy Prince on this recording. Some of it sounds a bit too familiar, but overall I think it's kind of cool. |

I won't bother with the streaming or Myspork stuff, just wait for the album like the good olde days of yore.

My fiancee on the other hand, is a HUGE fan of NIN. She played me a few tracks recently. I was surprised, I kind of liked it. There is some great guitar noise ala David Torn/Adrian Belew/Reeves Gabrels over some pretty crushing grooves. I'd be interested to see if they re-create the guitar noise live or just trigger samples.

and other times they even have 3 gutiars on stage, with no bass thoug
but its great how well trent picks his band mates cuz they are so versitle, the lead guitar player always stays on gutiar thoug heh
with that said, my favorite tracks are Captial G, the great destroyer, my violant heart, and survivalism

'just like you imagined", "the great below", and "where is everybody?"
from watching the new live DVD, they do run a few loops, but 95% or more of everything is being performed live. |

I remember seeing footage of Woodstock '94 where they did "Head Like A Hole." There was a lot of sound coming out of the band that sounded just like the recording (drum machine and synth bass).

lowsound | yea i know (jeordie btw) i meant to say they have some songs where there is no bass guitar, and jeordie plays guitar (i was front row right infront of jeordie when i saw them in november of 05 at msg heh, plus i was a big fan ebfore that )
i took a boat load of pics, here are a couple, with jeordie on bass and also gutiar... i cant seem to find a pic in the set i took, but i also believe he played keyboards for a song two, i'll ask the friend i went with if he took some and post it too
edit: ok, here it is.. jeordie on keys also
and keep in mind, all tehse pics are from the same shot, another reason why trent is a smart guy, he thinks ahead, he doesnt want anything going on in his music that cant be recreated by actual people with something in their hands heh.
aside from pinion wich i think is played over the PA as they enter, and they too might be played by the lead keyboard player who is allesandro cortiene (i cant pronounce or spell his name for the life of me)

I know he uses Deluxe P-Basses but beyond that I have no idea what amp he uses or what effects. |

i know in an interview of sorts he said he switched from only useing thunderbirds (when he was in manson) to playing fenders in a perfect circle and NIN, is because he needed more low end since manson only had 1 guitar, so try to aim for something with out that heavy bottom end and ur good heh
but to get a run down of his gear... http://www.basetendencies.com/Gear.html

yea, im more then sure he has some over drive going on also heh, but also i notice that when he jumps from guitar to bass and back, he uses the same cable, so either hes playing bass throug a guitar amp or a guitar throug a bass amp, or he has some dude back stage switching amps for him heh

The CD label is pretty cool... it's all black except for a small "year zero" in fine white print. It's also heat-sensitive - when it warms up, a cool graphical design shows up.
