But OH MAN do they rule. I'm just now getting into them, but several things I've noticed:

1) They are not as simple as they seem. Sure it's pretty basic songwriting and playing, but there's a certain depth here that I'm only discovering upon repeated listens. Je ne sais quoi as it were.

2) Apparently they are severely underappreciated, excepting a small devoted following that still exists to this day. I suppose most of the greats are like that though, these days it seems to be if your neighbour has heard of a new band chances are they suck.

3) The bass playing is STELLAR. Some really incredible tones and very creative playing. Very fresh sounding too, even though I'm listening to decade old music.

Umm, like yeah and stuff. Or something.

Failure is a great band. One of the best to be sure and HIGHLY underrated; Shame.

I actually play in some projects with Kellii (drummer) and we've talked about it a few times.

Listen to all of Greg's fretless work (pre-Comfort, Comfort era, early/during Magnafied). But yea, Greg is a genious. He and Ken had a great partnership thing going on.

There've been a few threads on Failure around here. I think they were great. Though I tend to always listen to Fantastic Planet, I should give the other two some air time one of these days.

+10000000. Fantastic Planet is one of my favorite records ever. Certainly one of my favorite grunge records- it's like psychedelic grunge. A consistent sad, drowsy mood throughout. The lyrics are melancholic brilliance. I've loved them for around 4 years, thanks for bringing them up. Is Autolux any good?

I have to say, I love the video for "Stuck On You," FWIW.

Saw them live once, pretty decent but I never picked up their stuff. Bought two Failure albums instead.
