noob question

hey guys, I have two basses a Fender Jaguar and an EpiphoneT-bird.. I'm trying to record a song, just in my room with a camcorder. I'm just wondering why my T-bird sounds better, I mean its smooth. is it because of the strings? my T-bird has this smooth, thin strings while my fender has this kinda rough string which gives a louder sound. I know the jaguar has a lot of controls another question is what is the best control set up for you guys if you are going to record a song? (rock song)

and oh yeah the way i play my t-bird i strum it between the pick up and the bridge..

Try posting your question in Recording Gear and Equipment [BG]: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/forumd...sprune=-1&f=43

The strings on your T-Bird are likely flat-wounds (the outer wrap is made of flat steel wire, similar to the string type used on double basses) or ground-wound (essentially round-wound strings whose outer wrap is made of round steel wire ground flat on its exterior surface).

The strings on your Jag are likely round-wounds (the outer wrap is made of round steel wire, similar to how bass strings for pianos are made).
