Well, i'm new here and I've been playing bass for about a year now, and I'd like to say I'm pretty decent when it comes to playing and all; I've learned a few techniques and memorized a few songs but I don't have a lot of musicians to look 'up' to. I'll admit, at this point, I don't listen to a 'lot' of rock and while I want to like metal, I just can't find any outstanding interest in it. I listen to mostly Techno(and electronica by extension, like daft punk and justice), R&B, Rap, jazz, and jazz fusion (huge fan of casiopea)

I don't want this to be my first 'topic' (This site already has most of the questions I liked to ask already covered) but what are some of the great 'bass' players of the genres I have listed?

I would think you could find quite a lot in these genres "R&B, Rap, jazz, and jazz fusion".

Try searching by name of group here and in the bassists forum, I bet you get a lot of good info.
