cool....

that's probably the only time I've seen slap bass in the same piece as nylon-string guitar....

agreed...Abe is a fantastic bassist....

as far as open-hand slapping technique goes....haven't some of you seen this before?

I actually discovered it on my own a few years back,,,I was trying to get a particularly "deep-yet-percussive" sound from my carvin AC40 bass (only bass I had with me at the time)...
the only way I could get something close was to slap it like it was a used-car-salesman just in front of the bridge.

Does anybody else always have the urge to type "Sadowski" instead of "sadowsky?" I guess its the Polish in me.

I think that to employ a phrase used by David Bowie might help explain my feelings on this clip...'Sound and Vision' Take away the visuals and listen to the bass solo and, well it's only really middle of the road stuff guys

For those that aren't impressed, did it ever occur to you that maybe that's what the song called for? What would you have done differently, and would it have FIT the song? Let's hear what you would have done...

Abe is great - the fact that he still plays so well even after the Carpal Tunnel Syndrone problems he has had is amazing!

Plus, did any of you guys catch his son when he played drums for Paul McCartney on his world tours? Amazing powerhouse of a guy!!

It's called entertainment! Make no mistake, the dude can 'shred' with the best of them! And he's paid his dues. He's been playing a long time.

My god he's so cute when he jumps around like that (pretty weird to say but i had to, he's like a big bass bunny).

Lee Ritenour's smooth jazz is so not justifying he's skills, he's a great jazz player (he's teacher was Joe Pass BTW)
