Ocean's 13 soundtrack

I saw this movie today, and it's quite good, but what stood out for me was the soundtrack, really funky and some great up-front bass playing, and I remembered I liked the previous 2 movies in terms of the backing music, so I just ordered the soundtrack.

Anyone else heard it and got any views on it?

I haven't listened to it too many times since I got it, but it's worth a listen. A shame each track is so small, none of them are longer than a minute or a minute and a half.

half the tracks are 2:00 or more... the longest being 5:51

but yeah, the grooviest stuff needs to be 4 to 6 times longer IMO!

Really? Haven't listened to it for a while, but I didn't think any of the songs were that long! A lot of the best stuff is in the first half of the album (if my memory hasn't completely gone) and I thought they were quite short.

how odd, I watched this last Sunday - and thought the soundtrack was amazing, got on a real lounge tip (have been listening to a lot of roy budd, and learnt Get Carter on the cello ) and made a misplaced posting in the DB forum

it's a fantastic mix of electric and DB

I see most of the tunes are credited to David Holmes (I have a few of his other albums) - so did he write the tunes and get session guys in? Are they likely to have had their parts written out or did they lay them down?

it's his disc... he was the music coordinator / creator. Yeah the players were his hired guns. Not sure how much was written out though.
