I love the way John Myung sounds on this album.

Does anyone know if John used his Musicman Bongo on this album, or was he still using Yamaha then?

I also wonder how he's going to get on with Gavin Harrison now in Dream Theater.

If, in fact, Gavin is now a part of DT (not been able to find anything to corroborate this), does that means he is out of PT?

I am sure Porcupine Tree will be dormant for a while after their London show next week, in fact Steve Wilson has said so in interviews, so the timing is ideal for Gavin to join Dream Theater right now.

I'm pretty sure it was the Yamaha because I remember there being a lot of discussion prior to Systematic Chaos coming out if Myung's tone would improve with a new bass.

Gavin Harrison? That makes sense I guess. I haven't seen it confirmed. I think Myung will get along better with anyone other than Portnoy. That guys playing and personality have really grated on me the past few albums. Glad he bounced.

Myung was still with Yamaha back in 2005...he started with Ernie Ball Music Man in 2007.

For Octavarium, Myung used his RBXJM2 and he also had stringrays, the hammer 8 string and his Chapman stick in the studio. The album is mostly the yamaha and some stringray stuff. As for Gavin joining DT, its not confirmed at all. Check LaBrie's, Petrucci's and Rudess' twiter acounts. They haven't even auditioned anyone yet. They just have a short list of guys, none of which has been confirmed who's on the list. I would see it being a good fit for him but between his PT and King Crimson commitments, its very unlikely.

I haven't seen anything yet saying Gavin Harrison's joined DT. That'd be interesting, though. He's a monster drummer.
