Odd listening habits

I sometimes go thru periods of obsessive listening, like right now i am going thru the whole Steely Dan catalog. Certainly not a bad thing, great tunes, musicians, bass playing & production it's all there; but to do it on strict chronological order start to finish could seem a bit odd. I even have the Donald Fagen Trilogy cued up. There are other bands that I often do this with: The Beatles, Return To Forever, Weather Report, Joe Jackson, Thomas Dolby, Earth Wind & Fire, even Chicago.
Do you think this is odd or obsessive?
What are your listening habits?

Nothing wrong with that at all. It's only odd if you feel you have to do it.

When I get a new CD I play it through my computer/headphones and smash my headphones to my ears as to get every little bit of sound that's there and it's awesome.

I've certainly gotten obsessive about listening to particular artists from time to time but I've never gone in chronological order. For about six months all I could listen to was Fela Kuti.

+1 I'm sure everyone goes through that once in a while. Last year, from October to December, I hardly heard anything except Type O Negative.

Chronology makes sense because you get to hear the progression of the band, from its recorded infancy to whatever they evolve into.
Steely Dan became such better arrangers..but those songs on "Can't buy a thrill" are second to none.
I have also marveled at how David Palmer was on the first album as lead vocalist then suddenly disappeared- and how IMO Fagen either tried to style himself in a similar vocal vein, or else had initially tried to get Palmer to sing like Fagen and then simply decided to sing himself as himself and save some royalty money...
If I ever meet Fagen its pretty much the first thing id ask him!
