Official weekly "Tuesday Release Thread"

I originally started this as a new Clutch CD thread and I was going to create another one for the new Umphrey's McGee CD, but I figured we could use this thread for all weekly releases moving forward(?). It would prevent board clutter and give everyone one source for new releases each week.

Just an idea so, if I'm off, so be it.

I picked up a copy at lunch, and got to listen to about half of it on the way home from work today. So far it's pretty good. Their sound has continued to evolve on this album, so it's different from all of the rest.
Here is a video for Electric Worry from the album so you can get an idea of what it's like...

Of course all the songs aren't just like this one. But having only listened to the first half of it, it seems like this is the direction they are going in.

I really can't think of anyone who has evolved as much as Clutch.

I remember they went from the rock n rap thing, to 'jam band' rock or whatever, and sometimes it was painful. THEN they got good at it. THEN they really started taking it places, and they are STILL doing that.

Must got at lunch...... and I dig the video. I think rock roots suit those guys well.

I don't know if I consider the early stuff "rapping" just very rhythmic... I don't know. I kind of prefer the early stuff, mixed with the jam edge, I actually really like "jam room." The new stuff isn't as heavy, which is kind of a bummer, but they do the rock thing so good.

I'll have to check out more of this album.

The first time I heard Beale street I was a little dissapointed, it seemed to lack the "punch" compared to previous albums. Gone are the days of the Elephant Riders riffs or the aggressiveness of Pure Rock Fury. However after about 8 or 9 listens, this album grew on me. It does have some awsome riffs and the punch is there but everything is just more stuble than before. Power Player, White's Ferry, Electric Worry, Opossum Minister are the stand out tracks so far for me.

I was plannig on seeing Clutch on March 17th in Toronto but things did not work out, but I bet that the new stuff really translates well in a live situation and I can definetly see my self rocking out to them...

Overall this will still probably be one of my favorite albums of 2007, simply because any clutch album is so far above anything any other band is putting out there right now. They just keep going, it won't be long before we are discussing their next album....I can't wait.

I'll buy it, I usually like Clutch. They can be a little hit or miss depending on the track. That video - not bad, but not my favorite.

Hmm... I haven't listened to Clutch since probably '99 or 2000, but thought about buying this album just from all the Clutch talk on TB. Now that I've actually heard this track from it, I definitely will!

I don't think you will be disappointed with the new Clutch. After a few listens I can say it's a pretty good album.

This week the new Kings of Leon album Because of the Times came out too. It's an interesting album from them if anyone else is a fan.
