Cool! Can you talk about how you recorded it? It sounds like you overdubbed everything with 2 electric bass tracks, keyboard and a drum machine. Is that it?

-Will

EDIT: Ahhh . . . just noticed the "imported midi file . . . " on the link. Nevermind! I like your solo.

Hey Will-

Actually, I pulled the drums and piano from BIAB and put the bass under and over it. It is imported like a midi file, but on mac you can just drag and drop from Band in a Box. Kinda cool. It's good for checking yourself out on tunes like this. After playing for an hour I found myself just doing lydian stuff over it with all those fourthy things I like to play. I'm a work in progress for sure...

You want a critique? Okay here it is- you don't put an apostrophe before an s used as a multiplier!

Cool playing, Will. The only thing I didn't super-dig about it was the band-in-a-box-sounding piano Have you ever tried playing this with your upright playing the bass part? It might add an interesting dynamic.

Hey Bryan

Me fail english, that's unpossible!! LOL, actually I was an english major. For some reason the noun "ho" doesn't look right to me pluralized as "hos" or "hoes". And calling my fellow TB'ers whores just doesn't seem appropriate.

It is BIAB piano...LOL...I agree, it sounds lame but I'm in NC at my in-laws with just my bass and my laptop so this is the best I can do for ya bro! Upright would probably sound better but I actually think upright can overwhelm MIDI drums given the chance.

Ideas for this

The one idea this has given me is that the BIAB/Garageband thing is so easy...it would be a great way to do jazz lessons by correspondence. Talk about a great way to record examples for a student and document the student's progress. You could do it with any instrument very easily.

Perhaps bass sluts?

MIDI can be tough stuff to work with and make it sound real- pretty cool that you're still recording away from home as well. You in Raleigh by chance?

Nah

I'm in Winston-Salem, Clemmons actually. I feel so cool, holed up in my inlaws recording jazz and posting it on the internet. I'm like a jazz outlaw. Sort of. Or, just a crummy bassist stealing wi-fi from somebody.

I feel the same way at times. I guess we'll have to put an apostrophe before the "s" and and asterisk after to alert the grammar ferrets that we mean well and aren't just blither heads. No offense to anyone.
