OK, So what's the most boring bass line you've heard ?

The title says it all...

For me it's "Shadows in the Rain" by the Police. Boring as batsh!t. I usually like Sting's stuff, but this one doesn't flow, doesn't groove. It's just stop, start, boring crap.

Whenever we play a show where the average age of the audience is 35+, we usually do a cover of The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary. It really gets the crowd going wild, but is boring as hell to play!

"Achy breaky Heart"....hate to admit it. But I managed it once by playing an A and not moving my hand at all.

Some Kind of Wonderful.......traditionally done.

I actually do it with another group of guys, where it really moves, with a nice walking shuffle feel to it...and it is somewhat enjoyable.

Most ZZ Top basslines are boring. They are also perfect.

I think that bass line breathes nicely. Sting does a solid job on that whole record.

Boring bass lines would be most likely found on songs where the bass could be removed and no one would care. This occurs more often than not in guitar orientated heavy rock.

Most of Status Quo's output, apart from a few that managed to slip through the net.

I agree. I was a HUGE Cult fan in the 80's. Still listen to their old stuff, but SSS is so boring to play. People LOVE this song though!

I hate when my guitar player starts playing AC/DC. I ALWAYS give him a dirty look. Sure it's fun for him, but I hate playing that stuff.

ive seen alot of people playing ac/dc. most bassists are not playing it the way it is on the record. they add thier own notes, and omit others. the most boring is 'tomorrow never knows' by the beatles, its one note through the whole song... johnny a staind

you guys think AC/DC is boring... you should really listen to this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMpGdG27K9o

Three notes for the entire song... but at least he gets to scream.

I LOVE that song though, so I sometimes put on the pompei DVD and play along anyways
