Old O.A.R.

Recently I've really gotten into old O.A.R. (of a revolution). They really used to be amazing. Listen to their album "Any Time Now". So much energy and creativity. Since then, however, they've been influenced by the whole pop culture scene such as "The OC" and they're music has deteriorated, imo.

Listen to "Conquering Fools" on the Any Time Now cd. They're an amazing band and used to be underrated, now they're overrated. Its strange how that works. They have an amazing bass player and i really love his tone on this album. Check it out! Its great!

Benj (of O.A.R.) is a super solid player and great guy. I had the pleasure of touring with him most of the summer of 2005 and we just did a show together on the 24th. He's not the bass geek that I am, but we spent a fair amount of time talking shop.

Here we are jamming backstage in Omaha. He's playing my upright while I rock the backpack guitar.

My band met Jerry and basically told him how we loved his band and his playing for a half hour. He took our cd and told us to email him to see what he thought but hes ignored all of them. I gave up after about 3 very spaced out emails. I dont know I shouldnt be judging people based on that type of thing but it doenst seem that hard.\

Edit masmasbasso you were right. As I said I shoudlnt be judging people on that type of thing and calling him a dick was definatley the wrong word to use.

There are lots of things that could have happened on Jerry's end.
He could have lost the CD. It's hard to keep up wth stuff like that on the road or he just got distracted with life. He is married with a little baby. But he did say that he would listen and let you guys know. Maybe it was a lost by his spam catcher of his email. I wouldn't call him a dick for it. I don't think that is the sort of incident that defines a person.

I saw them in the winter. They were solid, but not terribly interesting and didn't hold any real stage presence. I agree though that thier older music is vastly superior, I can't stand Stories of a Stranger but I love the wanderer.

Any Time Now is definetely a great record, but their new material has no flavor to it at all.
