Old School funk song suggestions...

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm putting together a CD (or two or three) to play along with as a warmup, and want just some old school funk/disco - Not music I *love* to listen to per se, but music that is darn fun to play along with...

So far I have...

Will it go round in Circles (Billy Preston)
Skin tight (Ohio Players)
get down tonight (KC)
That's the way (KC)
Machine Gun (Commodores)
The Bump (Commodores)

but now I'm drawing a blank...!

Come on, old disco-dudes and funk fools - throw some titles out there for me!

artists are fun, but I'm looking for songs titles! (that said, I had forgotten about Graham Central - doing a itunes store search right now...)

And I saw George Duke live at the Jazz Bakery in LA - front row, center - all of 7 feet from him. It was great!

How 'bout Groove Me by King Floyd. Super easy to play, super fun to play. You'll have the song down after about a minute of practice.

So I spent too much time last PM at the Itunes store listening to Larry Graham - Why hadn't I been exposed to him before? True, his "best of" album seems to have too many ballads, but just sampling around there are a TON of very cool, very very funky fun tunes! Reminds me of a bit-more-conventional P-funk... So thanks for the tip
