Tell me what you think (playing, tone, timing anything), constructive criticism is fine. I recorded this with my Peavey Milestone IV with a Ashdown Mag 300 as the preamp between the bass and computer.

The bass is loud at the start but later on sits in the mix fairly well

take 2

ehh I think i might need to practise with my timing

I don't expect you guys to say its great I expect to get an opinion, so thanks.

I don't get why I should use a pick, maybe my sound is a bit muddy.

Thing is when i get those things I never know what exactly to work on because it seems fine to me, although i know there is something sloppy about it. Is it my timing, is it that I'm not holding the notes for too long or too short?

did you wait until around 1:06, I find the bass pretty obvious if you have enough of an ear, maybe it's because Its the way I recorded it, i'm pretty sure it comes out of only one speaker.

The sharper attack of a pick would, IMO, sound much better. Not bad though, a little too hard to hear.

newsted played that song with a pick. it will help with those triple picks to sync up with the drums. a pick will clean those notes up alot.

how old are your strings?

fairly old, i like the sound out of older strings to be honest (I know some players think thats ignorant but thats the way I like em and some fellow tbers like dead strings too).

My BTB doesn't record well through the computer even though it cuts through a lot better, I also figured out that there is some annoying fret buzzing on it and I hate the trussrod adjustment on this bass

Ok here we go I'm pretty sure you'll be able to hear the bass on this one, I personally do not like the recording as much because my soundcard doesn't deal with bass well and it's kinda farty but thats about it.

I know there are some mistakes there once the song gets fast but nonetheless i'd like some opinions now since you'll be able to hear it. just to make sure the bass comes in at around 1:06
