I'm the drummer, but I just thought I'd see what you guys think. I'm a huge fan of our bassist's playing.

Another Divide

First impression:

Very tight sound. Nothing is overpowering anything else. Some of the offbeat picking in the intro of 'Home Again' almost sounds like a mistake. Minor though.

Your singer seems to be enunciating to the detriment of his sound. It makes him mildly pitchy in spots. If it were me, I would use a bit of a sleepy / tired drag to match the lyrics.

I agree on the bass player though. Nice skill. The website is really clean too, nicely set up. Have you thought about joining CDbaby?

Thanks I did the site myself.

No I haven't. We don't have much of a following yet.

I see what you're saying about our singer... actually "One More Chance" is our other singer Mick but the others are Rob Markus. He described himself as very lyrical and deliberate in his annunciation.

being deliberate is good where it should be. But good songs are made great by making the words of the song match the feel of the song. It's a fine tuning thing, really.

No... I believe he's Irish. Which is usually what people seem to think

I agree with this. The picking on "Home Again" I was unsure about, but the song came together very well.

The singer is very "wordy" but that's not a bad thing. So is Geddy Lee.

Overall I think you guys have a nice mellow sound going on!

i really liked "One More Chance" there are some cool lines in there. (listening on earbuds through my computer)
if the bass had a bit more bite and was more upfront i think the tune would really shine. probably the most subjective thing in the world......mixing! and i ALWAYS think the bass should be more upfront. lol

I think the drummer and bass player are the strength in the band. The songs sound very simplistic. Not sure what you were going for as far as sound. A couple of tracks sounded like they had an older folk rock feel to them. Maybe it was the vocals. No disrepect intended, but I find the 2 singers to be very boring. I'm probably in the miniority in this opinion though.
