Opinions on my band's new music?

Hey everybody, my band, Calvary just put up some new tracks from our upcoming EP. Our myspace is www.myspace.com/calvaryrock, and if you could all take a listen and give any feedback, that would be great.

Personally, I think that the mix isn't great (the vocals are a little overpowering for the style of music that we play), my bass is a little bit too midrangy (but I do cut through the mix like a hot knife through butter) and the guitars are a little bit thin sounding. I'm just curious about any of your opinions.

Oh, and I wouldn't listen to the first track, MJ. It is probably the worst of the songs. Run Kid Run and Everything are definitely my favorites.

You asked:

You'll probably get evicted before you get signed.

I betting on the Indians(First Nations Peoples).

Sorry, I'm too old to listen to teen angst.

Um, the vocals aren't just overpowering, but they don't even fit the band at all! JMO, but you need a non-emo singer. Maybe somebody who's gone thru puberty and has a lower voice. Like a man.

Lol, I'll tell him you said that. We're kind of going for catchyness as well as heaviness. He has a pretty good scream, I think, but we're not really going for the "heaviest band of the year" prize.

Not the kind of music I typically listen to, but I like what you guys are doing. Some people just need to show some respect I think as well. *ahem*

IMO/E songs are catchy, not just one part, but the whole thing. It doesn't matter whether the song is heavy or not, but it does matter if everything in the song is on the same track. Those vocals on an emo album would fit, and prolly make those songs "catchy". That is, if you like crying, sad poetry, and cutting your wrists in the rain.

The heaviness of the instruments (which I love BTW ) is too offset by the vocs, not enhanced by them.

Oh, and don't tell him I called him emo. The last thing I need is to have someone whining about how misunderstood they are. There's too many of those peeps around already. If you do tell him, do so in a padded room with all sharp objects securely locked up.

My advise still stands: Get rid of the singer and get someone with fully developed gonads.

Kudos on the orchestration of the instruments. Very cool stuff

The intro and other parts of Run Kid Run sound like the intro to Paranoid....

Ditch the singer and you are fine.
