I'm going to FAX you the liner notes from my Rit LP...FWIW, the liner notes say bass on "Mr. Brief Case" is David Hungate.
IIRC, you mentioned a live Ritenour record that had Johnson on bass for that tune.

| | | ...there's always "I Keep Forgetting We're Not In Love Anymore" by Michael McDonald.
Quincy Jones' albums with Louis Johnson include- Mellow Madness...may have pre-dated the Bro J's debut recording. I Heard That!...contains the instrumental All-Star jam called "Midnight Soul Patrol" with Johnson & Stanely Clarke trading fours during a solo sectio(Alphonso Johnson plays the bass groove). The Dude..."Ai No Corrida" is happenin'.

LOL! I was waiting for you to post! I honestly think that the label fumbled on the credits. The cassette has Louis listed as bass player.

Louis played on the album "Spellbound" also by Stanley Clarke as well as albums by Patti Austin and James Ingram but the list goes on and on.

It's 2 tracks of Louis slapping, panned far left and far right, with Stanley soloing throughout. It's pretty cool.

That bassline IS the song!
