Here's the first two songs we've written. I'm not playing out of that crap amp anymore. How do you guys think it sounds? It's ok to say it sucks. I won't cry for long.

Made Of Stars

The second one hasn't finished processing on Youtube yet, but as soon as it does I'll post it.

It's called Leroy.

I sense an RHCP influence...

It seems like you're setting the bar kinda high for your first 2 songs. Simple structure is better when you're starting, because it makes it easier to write coherent music. The goal, IMO, is to make the song greater than the sum of its riffs. You've got some great riffs here, but stringing them together just because they're in the same key doesn't make it a song. You guys can play, I'll give you that, but I think your writing needs work.

Listen to the Ramones for awhile, even if you don't like the sound or the style. Because those guys have perfect song structure. Expand from there.

Thank you guys very much.

Thank you for the advice, worker. It has gotten a lot better with these last three we've written, but I see what you mean. I really see that in the first one, and to be honest, I've never been satisfied with the way the song has connected. I've liked the verses and the chorus, and the ending, but I never liked the way it has strung together. Back to the drawing board on that one I suppose.

Again, thanks guys. =)

Cool. But what are the people gonna do to you when they come back to finish their house?

...LOL

That's actually a cool band IMO. I really think a lot of talkbassers wish they had the opportunity to have a first band like that. Lots of room for the bass and I see you guys getting really good together. It's cool taht your guitarist is riffing. In my experience (IME?) all i find is guitarists who don't know what a Rest is. They just play through everything and it's all muddy.

Name yet? I'd love to see what your guys are writing in a year...

and yes... RHCP all they way. but good RHCP. Old RHCP. Listen to Old Incubus. Read the apology on Fungus Amongus if you get the chance (and actually buy the CD with the booklet that includes it)... it basically says they were just trying to be Primus and RHCP. IMO a good album.

Here sort of (but still aquire the album. and S.C.I.E.N.C.E)

Product Description
Description
Originally released on the band's own label in 1995, this marks the first over the counter appearance of their earliestdemos, accurately described in the liner notes as "infamous, timeless, and mildly painful recordings" made by musicians"a mere 16 years old, and still wanting, very badly, to be Primus, Mr. Bungle, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers all rolledinto one". That bit of self-deprecation aside, the songs here (although obviously not as polished as on the band's later studio albums) nonetheless demonstrate that Incubus were already ferociously accomplished musicians at this stage, andthat their merger of metal and turntable techniques was fully formed from day one.

(Edit: The only advice i might give, which is very IMHO is that you try playing with your bass alittle higher. Sure, Flea plays it down there as do many others... but starting off it may not look cool but IMO your technique and writing ability go up with every inch to where you would play it sitting down you keep your bass...<---- if you can make sense of that ridiculous grammar...)

It made perfect since. To be honest, the only reason I haven't is because this higher i make this strap the more uncomfortable it is, and I can't afford a new one at the moment. My parents aren't helping me with this, and I just bought a new amp. (Peavey rig) My wallet is completely empty.

Our name is Five More Minutes, and our Myspace is here . We should be putting two more up on Tuesday.

We're looking for a new name at the moment as the other three members don't like it, so if anyone has an idea, that's one more than we have.

Probably a typo, but I noticed your myspace address is actually ffivemore, with 2 F's. Roll with that. Call the band fFive. It's catchy, unpronounceable, terribly mysterious, but kinda fun at the same time. Everything you could want from a name - plus a great story you can tell to VH1 someday.

So we re-recorded them, and we also filmed one more. They are much cleaner I think, and we also re-wrote some of 'Made of Stars. These recordings are better, and they weren't done after a long day of school, so we had more energy.

Leroy

Made of Stars

Running in Circles. We're trying to fix the vocals so it isn't that repetitive.

Sorry in advance for the lack of a PA. You can't really hear our singer very well.

The new song is really good! Probably your strongest one, it's got a real energetic feel to it. "Leroy" sounds better, and "Made of Stars" is coming along (I still think the vocals should enter like milliseconds into it, without the chorusy intro).

Audio quality could still use some work. Your bass is really loud, and I still can't hear snare or kick drum very well. That really tiny splash cymbal is really loud, but the sound seems kinda weak - too bad she uses it so often. That's all just nitpicking, though. I think your band has a bright future.

Thanks for the input, again. I'm sorry if it seems like I've been so impatient for reviews on this, I kinda have. We have our first show on the third of May, so I've been trying to get ideas on what we can do to make the songs a lot better in such a short period of time. (a month's short for us..we're nubs..)

I'll turn my bass down. That would help balance it out more. As for the cymbals and vocals, they won't get better until we have money. =\
