P bass shielding?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello bass brethren,
Although I have a recorded on a few albums in my day, I recently acquired a mac with logic pro and have started to try it myself. Yesterday I was playing with a mic'ed amp and noticed an occasional buzz /hum noise. Thinking it was the amp, I plugged the bass in direct, and am having the same problem. I can only conclude that it is an electronics issue with my bass
(1962 precision). Anyone with similar issues or suggestions on how to tame it? I would like to keep the original pickups / sound, but am not adverse to shielding the cavity or some other internal fix if it will help. I never really noticed the bass doing this before, but then again, I have never listened so critically through headphones.

I can't see as to how it would hurt, so I would say, why not? Go ahead and shield it.
