The new victor record came out today, i saw him on sunday and it was an amazing show with tons of new material from the cd. I was curious to see if anyone had gotten the record yet and checked it out, i preordered it but it isn't supposed to come until the 7th.
Shoot, the album is "Palmystery" sorry for the typo!

It is great! I mean his playing is just on a different level an all terms anymore... it is getting ridiculous how much his records continue to blow you away.

| | | | i agree, i heard alot of the material for this album in 2006 when i first saw him, and so it has been through constant evolution so it is now released two years later at its finest after having been improved for a year or two. Some amazing material.
Victor was put on this earth to play the bass. I think that he will ultimately have an effect on the instrument much like jaco had. |

I have always admired Victor Wooten, but most of his solo projects have done nothing for me. This CD gives me the impression that Wooten is really out to play some music and not worry about accessibility or catchiness. Wooten is definitely at a place that most of us can only imagine musically.

In the best while he's always been one of my favorites to see live and on other people's work, his composing has been lackluster... but palmystery really just hits it.

Its a good switch up.

"Happy Song" is, well, happy and makes me feel good! "Miss U" is a great song that makes me think of my deceased Grandma. The highlights for me is the fusion "Song For My Father" and the sort of acid jazz "Flex."

I have always considered Victor as one of my favorite players; however, most of his solo work lately hasn't thrilled me. This CD on the other hand is in a whole different league from his past releases. IMO, his best since "A show of hands". Nothing like "A show of hands", just different (and probably better). He's really stretching himself to new directions and IMO both his playing and composing is much more musical and appealing. |

AMAZING.
I've listened to happy song about a million times. And he does the most RIDICULOUS solo in Sifu!!! |

I get the distinct impression Vic's not trying as hard, that it "flows" more effortlessly. Does that make any sense?
The Lesson is amazing, best song on the album, IMO. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
