Sign in to disble this ad
The new victor record came out today, i saw him on sunday and it was an amazing show with tons of new material from the cd. I was curious to see if anyone had gotten the record yet and checked it out, i preordered it but it isn't supposed to come until the 7th.

Shoot, the album is "Palmystery" sorry for the typo!

I just came back from the clinic he had at Bass Specialties and he sold the album there.

It is great! I mean his playing is just on a different level an all terms anymore... it is getting ridiculous how much his records continue to blow you away.

i agree, i heard alot of the material for this album in 2006 when i first saw him, and so it has been through constant evolution so it is now released two years later at its finest after having been improved for a year or two. Some amazing material.
Victor was put on this earth to play the bass. I think that he will ultimately have an effect on the instrument much like jaco had.

So far my favorite song on here is Horace Silver's Song For My Father. I would love to see Victor record a whole album of standards with one band.

I just got this CD last night, and I am just getting to cut three, but I am super impressed. I have always admired Victor Wooten, but most of his solo projects have done nothing for me. This CD gives me the impression that Wooten is really out to play some music and not worry about accessibility or catchiness. Wooten is definitely at a place that most of us can only imagine musically.

I'm pretty much under the same impression as most others it seems, Victor hit the mark. In the best while he's always been one of my favorites to see live and on other people's work, his composing has been lackluster... but palmystery really just hits it.

I'm a big Victor fan but usually there is one cut on each CD that I want to skip over. This is not the case so far with Palmystery. I am letting it all soak in and enjoying the whole CD.

+1. I LOVE this CD. You can tell his skills have yet went to another level. Love Song For My Father track too. Its a good switch up.

I'm really diggin' the album. "Cambo" has an awesome feel, switching from 3/4 to 5/4, and is harmonically interesting. "Happy Song" is, well, happy and makes me feel good! "Miss U" is a great song that makes me think of my deceased Grandma. The highlights for me is the fusion "Song For My Father" and the sort of acid jazz "Flex."

+1 I saw Victor a couple of weeks ago and finally my amazon order came in today with the new CD. I have always considered Victor as one of my favorite players; however, most of his solo work lately hasn't thrilled me. This CD on the other hand is in a whole different league from his past releases. IMO, his best since "A show of hands". Nothing like "A show of hands", just different (and probably better). He's really stretching himself to new directions and IMO both his playing and composing is much more musical and appealing.

I got the CD the night of his show. Day before it was released.

AMAZING.

I've listened to happy song about a million times. And he does the most RIDICULOUS solo in Sifu!!!

So I finally got a little while to drive around and listen closely to the new record, and it feels pretty good. I get the distinct impression Vic's not trying as hard, that it "flows" more effortlessly. Does that make any sense?

The Lesson is amazing, best song on the album, IMO.
