Pat is a guitarist, so I'm not sure why you were expecting a bass solo.

It's all music. What's wrong with that?

Good musicianship spans instruments.

It was a pretty epic solo. At first I didn't care for his tone, but there were several spots where he had this violin thing going on and it was awesome. Wank fest for sure, but Metheny's an absolute beast.

He's a great musician..I havent heard him in a while, and that was not a good reminder IMO. Beautiful song, beautiful girl, but I remember him a bit better than that. hmm..time to go digging around.

Did you hear what the bass was doing?! The guy was killing! Groove was so deep!

But yea. Pat definitely has some better solos. But something about this one sent shivers up my back!!

I love Pat Metheny, and I love this song. Great version of it. Search Youtube for the version he did at the 2003 Northsea Jazz Festival. Amazing.

Having a fine vocalist doing the boards stuff is very cool, but I didn't like what the bass was doing. Dude should'a stuck with the original simple line, but I'm thinking PM wanted it that way. PM cooked as always.

I knew it was this song when I read about how "unreal" the solo was, its phenominal how he builds it up.

Never heard this version yet, I like it so far.
